Choose Your Activities!

What kind of Gardening and Grounds Maintenance is there to do?

We have lots of outdoor space to keep up with! There is gardening at PBDC, Mandarava House, and Pema Ling,  land to clear and upkeep with lawns, sprinkler systems, and more! It's all about the beautification of our land.

Special events also call for lots of activities on the grounds, including setting up outdoor lighting, prayer flags, and more.

What's Mandarava House and what is there to do?

During the late fall and winter months, Mandarava House is the local home and residence of our teacher, Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche, as well as Lama Jomo Lorraine. There is lots to do to maintain the house, including shopping, setting up technology, cleaning, updating rooms, as well as restocking supplies and  maintaining storage areas.

Opening and Closing the Shrine for Practice Days

In order to show respect and dedication, we set up the shrine prior to each practice. We fill the offering bowls, signifying respectively: water for drinking, water for washing, flowers, incense, light, perfume, food and music. We put fresh flowers in the vases and set up the tea lights as offerings as well. After practice, we caringly empty the bowls and turn out lights. This task is a simple but meaningful way to contribute to our sangha.

Retreats and Special Events

There is always so much to do in order to prepare for retreats and other special events! Outdoor spaces need to be set up, shopping to do, meals to prepare, schedules to make, printings to be made, etc., etc! We need all hands on deck in order to successfully prepare. Please jump right in to assist in making retreat as special as it can be!

Office Work

Are you an organizer? A spreadsheet wiz? Do you know how to mail merge? How about putting stamps on envelopes? Whatever the skill level, if you are familiar and comfortable with administrative and office work, we can use your help!

Media Help

PBDC is trying to move into the 21st century. Can you help us get there? If you have skills with web work, newsletters, or video livestreaming, please raise your hand! These special skills will be put to very good use to get the teachings online.
